The academic curriculum is only one part of our school and our focus is always upon the needs and happiness of each individual child. We firmly believe that school days should be the happiest days of everyone’s life and we work hard to make sure that is true for all our students. This means educating according to the abilities, background and potential of each individual. Differentiation is a key concept in each class so that each student is set high but achievable expectations relative to their own potential. The challenge to the child is to do their best no matter how high or low. And with this comes a respect for every other child whether classmate or not, as an individual just as unique and entitled as yourself. All our children are respected and expected to show respect, courtesy and understanding to all around them. In this way we engender mutual respect and a supportive, harmonious environment throughout the school.

Cambridge Progression Tests are available for English, Mathematics and Science for stages 3 to 6. They are used internationally and are marked at school using full mark schemes and marking guidance provided by Cambridge. The tests are optional and the results are just for school use or reporting to parents.

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is a diagnostic assessment tool for the end of the Cambridge Primary programme in English, Mathematics and Science (end of Year 6). Students have to be entered for the tests with Cambridge and the question papers are issued from and returned to Cambridge for marking. Analysis and certificates are sent to the school by Cambridge after about two months.

Years 1 to 6 (5 to 11 year olds)

In our Primary School we use the Cambridge Primary curriculum for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. This is in addition to other subjects such as Arabic, French, Music, Art, Physical Education, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and NS.

The Cambridge Primary programme provides subject content, planning and resource guides, guidance for curriculum implementation and development, plus support for classroom teaching and student learning. Because it is a programme which has been developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond our school.

Cambridge provides two types of test for use at the end of a stage (school Year) and at the end of the primary programme (end of Year 6): Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint.
